My name is Geoffrey Garbers, and I’m a 23 year old PHP developer living in Cape Town, South Africa. I have a passion for all things development, as well as all things interwebs. I develop in a LAMP environment, and primarily develop in CakePHP. I’ve recently started branching out into teaching myself Java, with a goal to developing Java applications for mobile phones.

I’m currently working for the leading South African new media development agency, Prezence, as a mobile web developer. Whilst working there, I’ve had the privilege of working with a number of big brands in South Africa, such as Ster-Kinekor, Computicket, Glenfiddich, iBurst, and Danny K’s “Shout” campaign.

I’m an absolute sports fanatic – more from the point of playing sport though. I do enjoy watching rugby, 20/20 cricket, and most other high tempo sports. I play rugby for False Bay Rugby Club (FBRFC), and am part of a UCT internal league soccer team – Sunday United. I also do some road running in amongst the other sports, but I really only participate in the major races such as the Knysna Half Marathon and the Two Oceans’ Half Marathon.
